Hereā€™s a thing about western philosophy
Itā€™s mostly spawned from ancient perverted dudes who never could have seen Internet being a thing and the cultural effects of modern women. Plus thereā€™s no decent philosophy for women to follow
Thereā€™s plenty feminist philosophers since the 1800s in fact when Wollstonecraft wrote , thereā€™s Simone de Beauvoir , hell Iā€™d argue that Betty Friedan is a philosopher
Hehe
This disrespect is so unnecessary

Hi
Hello, Plato or Socrates? Which to read first?
Any recommendations?
It's a great question! If you're new to ancient philosophy, it's helpful to understand that most of what we know about Socrates comes through Platoā€™s writings. So, reading Plato first can give you a clearer picture of Socrates, as well as an introduction to Plato's own ideas. Platoā€™s Dialogues feature Socrates as the central character, engaging in philosophical discussions, so you'd be learning about both thinkers simultaneously. The Apology which recounts Socrates' defense of his philosophy followed by The Republic which explores justice, the ideal state, and philosophy more broadly. If youā€™re interested in Socratesā€™ specific views, Platoā€™s works are the primary source, but you could also look into Xenophonā€™s Memorabilia, which offers a slightly different perspective on Socrates' life and teachings. In short, reading Plato gives you an introduction to both, so Iā€™d recommend starting there. ~ AI response šŸ¤– šŸ‘½ šŸ––šŸ»

I trend I have personally noticed, is how a branch of philosophy is often adopted by an individual, who then molds it into something that it isnā€™t. Stoicism is a perfect example of this phenomenon.
I see people who take the values of stoicism, tie it to their preferred religion, and then claim that the virtues came from that all along.
What are some characteristics of modern philosophy?
Itā€™s philosophy
