No, I still think people would be afraid of heights if there were no tall buildings that people have fallen from so I’m sure that horror films or stories accentuate fears but the fear is likely there already
Our collective subconscious
I think in our genetic memory we have stored how others have died and that's how phobias have formed. Fear of heights couldve originated from people falling from cliffs. We see a stick and our brains (sometimes, maybe not always) process it as a snake. It's interesting.
