Because they want attention. There's something in their life bothering them. And when it's personal like that it's usually a lack of attention
She doesn't do it very often but sometimes if she's trying to wake me up and I don't get out of bed when she wants she will leave me a present LOL
Thankfully her poops are very solid and easy to deal with
