That makes sense. It's hard to feel like you can trust someone when they could just let you down.
Well the thing is that if I have certain expectations, I find out what other people's expectations are, and then if they don't align I explain what I was expecting, and if it doesn't work for the other person, then it's better to not move forward in whatever it is. I'm being vague, but the principle is good.
For example, there's no point in trying to have a deeper friendship with a person who only wants aquaintances and surface level buddies.
I might feeldisappointed because I had hoped to have that friendship, but I'd rather know going in that the person doesn't want that. Then I need to decide if that kind of friendship works for me. If it does, I'm fine with that. If not, it's better to let the person go.
