I agree with Odey, I would dare to proffer the proposition that we, over time, have become wildly infatuated with knowledge of the material world over knowledge of basic principles the govern the experience of being human. It may even be that our technological prowess is less a result of our knowledge and intelligence and more a result of what we’ve been applying that intelligence to.
I wish more people would think along these lines
Hmm, at this moment I would say that the act of trying to be gentle and compassionate leads to learning, even if one often fails, one can learn about *why* one failed, and often the reason is a combination of conditions and quality of the heart. We’re all susceptible to unskillful action given the correct conditions, or at least I have some conviction that this is true.
