Well trump tariffs r just reciprocal

Well trump tariffs r just reciprocal
No the dumbass imposed trade tariffs to stop Americans buying from other countries
No it was to keep American buisness from outsourcing and bring buisnesses abroad to America
That is literally what I said. It keeps American money in America
You said to stop Americans buying from other countries, which was never said
and attracts other companies to the USA.
Yes if goods are made in America with American employees no tariff
Cool, but what about when other countries don’t play fair or undercut prices with cheap labor? Tariffs aren’t about punishing it’s about leveling the playing field
No it’s about pricing foreign goods out of the average persons price range
Or maybe it’s about making sure the average person still has a job to afford any goods in the first place. Cheap imports don’t help much if they come at the cost of local industries
But that isn’t why he did it though. Look at the biggest % countries
True, Trump’s tariff strategy wasn’t perfect and yeah, some of it looked more political than economic. But just because the execution was messy doesn’t mean the idea of using tariffs strategically is wrong. Gotta separate the tool from the user
Tell that to the people in the 1930s during the great depression where tariffs caused them to sink deeper in to depression
Sure, the 1930s proved tariffs can backfire but that was a blanket approach during a global collapse. Trump wasn’t trying to tank the economy, but let’s be real, a lot of his moves felt more reactionary than strategic. There’s a fine line between tough trade policy and just stirring the pot
