They are. Turtles love them. The sand is warmer

Punaluu is probably the best

Black sand is ground up lava. White sand is coral. Green sand (yes there is such a thing) is olivine crystals

The other side of the island is the wet side. Dense rainforests cover the lava. Very much what people expect in the tropics. lol
