Question: In all of history, when have women not been persecuted? As in, was there ever a time women in general had independence and free will without being beholden to anyone else?

If you look at Hindu scriptures- the women like Draupathi had free will. Even Sita. She had free will. Wars were fought for them.
The persecution and all happened later- much later where people became greedy and said women died when husbands died or women need to bring dowry…etc- mostly in the 18th and 19th centuries. I don’t know if there was dowry killings in the time of kings- someone can confirm

I mean… scriptures say yes. They had independence. Like Sathya Bhama fought with Krishna. Ravana’s sister was let roam freely which caused Ramayana…all the goddesses had freedom
