He told me the same once!
Honestly I don't know how you deradicalize people. Like I feel like I've argued for years with people who have been radicalized through social media and I don't even know if I ever got through them. Then again I've also shown hostility at times which was most likely not working in my favor
If I ever got through to even one*
Getting them out of whatever community they’re in is a good start
Yeah but its not like you can really get them out of those if you're not at least really close to that person
Helping them remember who they used to be and their past values works too
And well, i was also depressed by all the hate i saw
So i left so the people kinda have to make their own realization
Do you still consider yourself Christian? I hope the dark place you were in didn't ick you out of it
Yeah I think that's what it is. Arguing is useless in a way.
What you said reminded me of the scene in they live
Yeah, im still Christian, I actually finished the Bible a month or so ago and ive started re-reading
I think anyone who read the gospels should find themselves at odds with a lot of things Christian nationalists do
And ill bring up verses to them
But it doesnt get through
Yeah and they justify it somehow or just ignore it
They’ll just say you’re piety signaling or something
But I think what matters is less the religion itself but the identity that can be transmitted. Idk if you know what I mean
I think a lot of that stuff appeals to young, bitter men who never had many strong values to begin with, the christian Nationalism, facism stuff was never a big deal to me, but i did get super sectarian
Idk if it was trumps inauguration but I once saw two women standing at the podium to announce trump and they called him “the king of glory” it was so freaking awkward. I was thinking—did they just blaspheme against the holy spirit?
And though everyone that wasnt eo were some evil heretic
Its pretty cringe now that i look back
Yeah that's the trend! Its also why there's lots of red pill overlap and such
Yeah bro, trump fanaticism is pretty big here in the states
Yeah, lonely bitter men is what it usually appeals to, even when i got sucked in that eo stuff, i still hated people like andrew tate and the other red pillers
Its still so odd its like the one sin you are never allowed to commit and they do it so casually
I never understood how a Christian man could see anything positive about andrew tate
Its like you said. Young, disenfranchised men who grew up idealizing certain power fantasies, but never got to live out those
Andrew tate basically promises those those (for a fee) and shows how he drives big cars has lots of women has authority and all that
Yeah, i think they’re manipulative too, they try to make you feel worthless if you’re not like them
Either way you don't even know how glad I am that you're out of that rabbit hole! Especially because you didn't jump into the next one straight away. I feel like the other one that many religious people fall into once they become atheist is this hyper rationalist rabbit hole
Then again we all live in our own rabbit holes
I'm wondering if I'm in a problematic. I'm in a circle with lots of radical feminists. While I'm more a material feminist, I still wonder whether I don't fall into one as well.
Idk, in my personal opinion, its only a problem if its causing you to hate or harm other people, thats just the stuff i stay away from
lol the app is gone. Why is the app gone?
