All I can say it to each their own. I grew up on cartoons but when I found anime I was enlightened. So I think background plays into preferences

On imdb toplists the westerneastern animation ratio is about 50-50% both for rating and number of views. (I don't agree their ratings, I prefer western haha) You're missing out half of the fun Just like I'm missing out on live-action stuff, 3d people don't do it for me, I couldn't even Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones D; D; D;
