It’s hard to make any right now, weather keeps oscillating between winter and spring. Nearest open place is like 150kms, and don’t know to bring my winter pack and backcountry skis or my three season setup 😅. I might be taking my first spring camping trip in mid May when the lock system opens up again.

There’s also a campground halfway between here and some crown land . Last year I had meant to check it out as a potential halfway point to recharge my bike batteries with solar. I want to get used to that trip before I attempt travelling directly to the crown land (essentially general use crown land is free to camp on), now I’m kind of in limbo

Also am going to get starlink this year (until one of the coming alternatives is ready). Also want to try working from camp; it would let me stay out longer and not have to take vacation.

I need to look into starlink too, the campsite we went to was great but no service at ll

Weekend wasn’t bad. Got stuff done; seems all my weekends involved doing things I didn’t have time for during the week 🤣

Also, pulled the trigger on a gps watch. Been relying on my phone with a samsung tablet as back for gps while bikepacking, now gonna try and go with watch and phone as backup so I can swap tablet for a lightweight laptop. We’ll see how that goes.

a garmin one? keep me updated to see how you like it. I wanted to go to this huge camping store but the weather has been annoying

So, I got the Forerunner 955, I agonised over this vs the Coros Apex 2 Pro, but the Garmin was on sale and despite having less battery life, most reviewers seemed to like using the garmin more. So for so good, about to go for a walk so will see how well the gps works (my primary purpose for it)

The ios app and the macosx “express” app are a bit fidgety, also there’s a small learning curve to using it. So far I’ve just set it up and updated the software (but not the maps), put a bit of music on it and am listening to some music over bluetooth. Will take a long time I think to get a sense for it.
