Ephesians 2:9 says specifically it's not of works. It's of faith alone. James 2 Echoes 1 Corinthians 13, that works without faith amount to nothing, that faith causes good works. James 2:27 isn't saying works cause faith; on the contrary, that works is a test of faith.

Do you believe God Is Holy Holy Holy? How can our works get us closer if even our best works are tainted? I know you don't know The Gospel, but this is the reason God The Son became Man!

You want to talk history history history but don't want to talk about The Author of History. Why did God The Son become Man? It was too save His people from their sin because we can never do it.
